PEDRO (Pellet Dispenser Robot)
PEDRO is a small, Arduino-controlled feeding machine designed to store and dispense precise portions of pellets or dry food for pets and other applications.
Exchangable 3d printed parts
PEDRO is modular and has only exchangeable parts in it. If anything breaks, simply reprint it.
Modular and adaptable electronics
The PEDRO-BOARD ensures a clean setup of the electronics components and reliable functionality.
Customizable to your personal needs
The download kit contains all info you need to build one. Choose the colors and versions that you prefer.
The idea behind the project
PEDRO is a small DIY machine built around an Arduino Nano that can store and release set portions of pellets or dry food. It is not a polished commercial product but a hobby project designed for makers and pet owners who enjoy building their own tools. The goal is to make a daily task like feeding pets easier while showing how simple electronics and 3D printed parts can come together in a practical project.

Contains all parts except those you have to 3D print. Created to make sourcing all of the parts a bit easier.
FAQs
-
All files, guides, and wiring diagrams are available through the Download Kit. It includes everything you need to 3D print, assemble, and set up your own PEDRO. The process is designed to be easy for makers and hobbyists with basic tools and a soldering iron. If you are unsure about your skills for building one, watch the YouTube video first. There you will see what is needed for it.

Dogs, cats, birds, rodents, chickens, and many more. In general, any animal that can be fed with dry food can theoretically be fed using a PEDRO. Whether this makes sense in your specific case depends on the size of the food and the exact application. Grains or feed pellets should not exceed 15 mm in size, and feeding should always be tested and adjusted during an initial trial phase.
-
The parts kit includes all essential electronics, screws, and mechanical components needed to build PEDRO. This covers the motors, wiring, power supply, fasteners, and the control board. You only need to 3D print the housing parts yourself.
-
No, the Download Kit is for personal use only. Selling PEDRO or derivatives based on the files is not permitted. For commercial use or partnerships, please contact me directly.
-
Depending on the hopper size you print, PEDRO can hold up to 2.5 kg of dry food. Smaller versions for compact spaces can hold around 800 g of dry food.
-
The PEDRO-BOARD is a custom control board that simplifies wiring and setup. You can also build PEDRO with a standard Arduino, but the dedicated board makes the build cleaner, safer, and easier to assemble.
-
If you build a PEDRO yourself, it’s important to ensure high-quality prints. Remove any strings or leftover material that could potentially end up in your pet’s food.
Before releasing the Download Kit, the latest PEDRO design went through extensive testing. The wear tests on the screw and middle section which are under the highest stress showed no visible degradation even after simulating three years of use.
However, I cannot guarantee that every individual print will perform the same. You should always use high-quality filament, preferably food-grade, and print with a well-calibrated 3D printer to achieve safe and durable results.
-
The cost depends on whether you 3D print parts yourself or order them. In total, expect around 80–150 EUR, depending on component quality and printer material.
-
You can absolutely order all parts yourself using the Bill of Materials (BOM) included in the Download Kit. The parts kit simply makes it easier and faster to get everything you need without searching for each component individually.
It’s mainly offered as a convenience option, especially for those who want to start building right away without worrying about sourcing compatible parts.
-
Yes. When purchasing both together, there will be a bundle discount to make it more affordable for builders who want the full package. Therefore you have to buy the Kit on my Etsy Shop. Put both the Download Kit and Parts Kit in the shopping cart and the discount will be added. If not, hit me up via Etsy and we will add the discount manually.

There is no difference in content. Both include the exact same files, guides, and updates.
Depending on your location and currency, one platform might be slightly cheaper due to different fees or exchange rates. You can choose whichever works best for you, both support the project in the same way.
